A rough description of what you are building and what is going wrong is enough. You do not need a spec, and you do not need to have the problem fully diagnosed.
I read it and come back to you
I read it and reach out with what I make of it, anything I still need to know, and confirmation of the time you picked or the nearest one I can do.
We talk before we talk price
The call is for understanding the problem. Cost comes after that, once I am confident I can take the work on and deliver it. If I do not think I am the right person for it, I will tell you instead of quoting.
